Aims
and Objectives of the EFPA
1. To encourage the greater use of and to promote the advantages of food service and packaging products made of plastic, paper and other materials, harnessing the appropriate scientific data. 2. To initiate, as appropriate, research studies on key issues affecting the membership. 3. To act as a clearing house for information of interest/use to the food service and packaging industry in Europe, notably material that supports the positive advantages of food service and packaging products, their cost effectiveness and their benefits to the environment, to hygiene and to public health. Such information will be made available to the membership and to appropriate target audiences. 4. To ensure that Members are kept informed of relevant policy and legislative developments at EU, Member State or regional/local levels which have a real or potential impact on the membership (notably environmental protection, health, safety and Single Market developments). 5. To ensure that the Association works closely and effectively with other representative organisations to put the positive case for food service and packaging products vis-à-vis the institutions of the EU. However, the Association may also act independently where this is required to defend/promote the specific interests of the sector and of the membership. 6. To take appropriate action to avoid discrimination against food service and packaging products throughout Europe. 7. Where appropriate, to counteract inaccurate or misleading information relating to food service and packaging products and materials. 8. To publish literature, as appropriate, making the case for food service and packaging products with a view to promoting greater awareness of the benefits these products afford. Such literature may be used with relevant target audiences as identified. 9. To provide value-added services for the membership as identified by the membership. 10. To encourage the recruitment
of new members to ensure that the EFPA membership fully represents the
industry.
