What is EFPA
EFPA - the European Food Service & Packaging Association - was established as an international association under Belgian law in 1991. It was, however, originally founded in 1974 under the name of European Single Service Association (ESSA).

The Association promotes the advantages of food service articles and packaging products made of plastic, paper and other materials and encourages greater use of them. In particular, when communicating with decision-makers in the European Union institutions, EFPA underlines the role of these products in guaranteeing hygiene, enhancing modern lifestyles and contributing to a better environment.

Membership
Membership is open to anyone who endorses the Aims & Objectives of the Association. However, EFPA is primarily intended for companies active in the manufacture of food service articles and packaging products made of plastic, paper and other materials.

EFPA currently has two categories of membership - a "Full Member" pays the annual membership fee, is entitled to vote in official EFPA business, may attend all EFPA meetings, receive all EFPA materials and access the "members only" sections of the Website. A category of "Observer Member" is reserved for companies from larger industrial groups that opt to pay 2 or 3 membership fees. Such companies may nominate additional persons/affiliates who may receive EFPA services, attend plenary meetings on payment of  a 1000 euro meeting fee. They do not have voting rights, however.

EFPA has about 25 Full Members & 5 Observer Members, in 10 countries.
