Welcome to EFPA's Home Page!

E...F...P...A... is short for the European Food Service & Packaging Association.

In French we are  known as the "Association Européenne d'Emballages Alimentaires à Usage Unique" and, in German, as "Europäischer Verband für Lebensmittelverpackungen und Einweggeschirr". The information on this site is currently available in English only.

EFPA is a not-for-profit membership association. It deals principally with packaging and related products used in food service applications where food is packed or served in the packaging immediately or very shortly before consumption by the customer. EFPA does not aim to represent all types of food packaging although many member companies produce other types also.

Food service packaging products are used, for example, in self-service restaurants, quick service restaurants, cafés and snack bars; in canteens in schools, colleges, prisons and business settings; in shops and supermarkets; in vending machines; and, of course, in the home. Disposable cups, glasses, plates, cutlery, serviettes/napkins and serving trays are just a few examples of the products.

The principal aim of EFPA is to promote understanding of the uses and benefits of food service and packaging products through information and representation - notably to the European Union institutions. This is why our headquarters are located in Brussels, sometimes called "The Capital of Europe". EFPA supports clear, harmonised EU legislation for its products.

On this site you will find some basic information about EFPA. Please note that no market statistics are currently available from EFPA.
